• What is the benefit to using MI CARES for Addiction Medicine Certification?

  MI CARES will provide you with the guidance, education resources and tools you need to complete the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) Practice Pathway program and become an Addiction Medicine specialist.

• Is there a deadline to enroll in the MI CARES Program?
  No.  MI CARES has rolling enrollment. However, the Practice Pathway will end after the 2025 application cycle. Beginning in 2026, all applicants for certification in Addiction Medicine must successfully complete an ACGME-accredited Addiction Medicine fellowship program.  In order to qualify for addiction medicine certification by the end of the Practice Pathway, you MUST be engaged in the practice of addiction medicine by June 30, 2023 if you have no prior experience.
